It's free - but not Open Source.

It's buggy - but you can learn to live with the bugs.

It's multithreaded. So you can open up to 50 connections to your news server 
parallel to hold download time short.

It's highly configurable. You can build your own group trees as you like. You 
can handle multiple news servers in parallel. 

You can read/write offline!
