I use a 4 port LinkSys 10/100 hub router here at home...
the shop I work at sells them for $288 CDN.

 The single port version has a switch for
 straight thru   II    or   crossover       X
 therefore It can be used stand alone or plugged into a hub.
 The cost on this is roughly $100 CDN less... Have to check on the
 exact price.
