Subj : NETSCAPE + JAVA SECURITY HOLE?? To : Mark Lewis From : Jim Rysyk Date : Wed Aug 23 2000 04:36 pm > 1. has anyone else read/heard this? Yes. Thats why Netscape 4.75 came out. At 65% of the downlaod from Netscape the download of 4.75 froze. It cound not be resumed at further attempts. Downloading 4.75 from mirror sites, I got either error in FTP path, file does not exsist. Or. If it did download, I got it unarched to 93%, then got a insuficent space in Temp path (6 plug gigs space is avalable on a 8.4 gig drive). So I downloaded it a 3rd time from a different site, and had the same insufficent space in the temp path unarching it on the 8.4 gig drive, with the 6 plus gigs space at 93%. Go figure! > 2. can anyone confirm/deny this WRT the OS/2 platform? the flaws in allowing unscripulious sites to execute Java remotley when you visit their sites. Netscape produced 4.75 to fix this. > 3. is it related solely to the use of java with netscape? I don't know. --- FLAME v2.0/b * Origin: SORRY, Live Y2K Rollover date system test under way @ (1:12/242) .
