I won't ask why, but a friend of mine in Canada is the same way.  If I want to 
talk to him, I page him with my number (he knows it by heart).

And I'm off... I'm heading out to our local ARC (amatuer radio club) meeting... 
this will be my very first one with them (I actually got the night off for the 
first time in four months)... really excited.  I get to meet people I've been 
talking to for quite a while on the air now. :)
