Hi Don-- If I remember correctly, an IBM announcement that appeared in a recent issue of IBM's e-mail marketing newsletter "OS/2 Warp FM" stated that the OS/2 version of JDK 1.1.4 includes IBM-added performance improvements that require modification to the operating system. Presumably, this modification is included in Warp 4, FixPak 5. I guess you are stuck unless you upgrade :-(. However, I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry. In the most recent issue of "OS/2 Warp FM" (dated 1-7-1998) IBM stated that it had received the new Java 1.2 beta from Sun in mid-December, and is busily engaged in porting that new version of the language to OS/2, including adding IBM's own performance improvements. If you want details on what is new about Java 1.2, the newsletter referenced the following Web site: http://www.javasoft.com/features/1997/dec/jdk1.2beta2.html Please note that I haven't checked out this URL because I had decided (shortly after JDK 1.1 came out) to stick with JDK 1.0.2 until the rapid language development cycle slows down a little; by the time I learned the new stuff, it would already be obsolete!
