Subj : IREX & LoraBBS To : Bob Jones From : Russell Tiedt Date : Sun Dec 24 2000 11:31 pm RT>> I am running LoraBBS and am trying to get IREX to work with Lora. BJ> I'm not using either package, but your outbound setup sounds like BJ> what Binkley and BinkD use, so I'll comment based on that experience. As I understand it, LoraBBS uses a Binkley Style Outbound, so that should be relevant. RT>> Lora uses outbound as follows: RT>> Outbound RT>> Outbound.001 RT>> Outbound.002 RT>> Outbound.005 RT>> Outbound.008 Oops, Outbound.008 should be Outbound.0DC or ODC ???. RT>> IREX does not send mail packet xxxxxxx.SA0 which is in RT>> Outbound.005 (fido). RT>> Have not tried it with my other networks yet. BJ> I think I see the problem. Your primary address is in zone 5, BJ> correct? No, FamilyNet (8:7905/1). BJ> While I'll admit I'm in zone 1, so I haven't had to test the BJ> following, it is my understanding that the Outbound directory should BJ> hold the outbound packets for your primary address's zone. So, in BJ> your case, you should *not* have an Outbound.005, and instead all BJ> files currently going in Outbound.005 should be in Outbound. Now BJ> that is what I would expect for a Binkley/Squish/BinkD setup. If BJ> LOraBBS (or what every your mail masher is) operates by placing in BJ> Outbound.005 and IREX expects stuff instead in Outbound, that might BJ> do it. Also, if IREX operates like BinkD, and if 5:7102/1 and BJ> 1:393/9005 are BinkP protocol exchanges, then that should be crash BJ> not hold -- and then you need to adjust your POTS mailer so it BJ> doesn't try to dial those nodes. I handle that via nodelist costs BJ> variables and binkley's cost controls allowed in it's event file. I accept your reasoning above as it confirms my understanding of how thing should work, if my Primary AKA was FidoNet (5:7105/1) which it is not, simply because my first network was FamilyNet. IREX can operate like BinkD, it also has a option to send mail on which is set as HOLD, which I need with LoraBBS, I don't have the option to tweak the nodelist compiling. It might be a solution to make my local FidoNet AKA my Primary, see my reply also to Peter Knapper, will wait and see what other answers I get in other echoes I have asked. Someone might just say something that will cause the penny to drop into it's slot here. BJ> Good luck.....
