I tried to. I simply replaced  the  old  SIO calls by new ones, since
the new one is directly supporting my high speed COM ports. My mailer
Xenia was working after I typed

Modes COM2:115200,n,8,1
Modes COM3:115200,n,8,1
Modes COM4:115200,n,8,1
Modes COM5:115200,n,8,1

on an OS/2 prompt. Before, nothing happened at all.

However, I'm passing incoming PPP  calls  to  SafeFirePPP,  and  that
didn't  work at all, SafeFirePPP simply didn't seem to recognizie the
COM ports. I couldn't find  the  reason,  so  I'm back to the old SIO
now.

Maybe "Modes" solves your problem, maybe your  mailer  has  the  same
problem as SafeFirePPP.
