Here's my batch file to correct that problem for my HJ Laserjet IIIP
(emulation on an Epson Action Laser 1500). Your printer codes may
differ.

:: Box.Bat used to prime the printer to print box char's.
@echo (10U >lpt1

Same one I used on an earlier printer emulating an HP Laserjet Series
II. Just before the print job, you execute BOX. Works for me!
