Console app vs background shouldn't matter. What may cause havoc is the RS-232 serial port interface usage (or what ever your UPS is using to talk with the computer). Unix and OS/2 com port interface is different at the upper level. I'm not sure if the EMX library for GCC completely handles this difference. BJ> I believe there is now another version also in play in the OS/2 BJ> environment. SH> Are you referring to InnoTek GCC for OS/2? I think I'll download it and SH> take a look. I believe that is it. I've only dealt with the EMX port, and the Open Watcom C (C++, etc.) compilers under OS/2. Ok... Maybe I've also used an old MS C (6.0?) under OS/2. BJ> I think there is even a UPS program that has been ported. SH> I tried searching, but didn't see apcupsd. Have you checked the other UPS programs that have been mentioned to see if they would work for you? Ah, based on other messages you have. SH> This is going to force me to try to learn some programming. Best wishes.... Bob Jones, 1:343/41 --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Top Hat 2 BBS (1:343/41) .
