Unplug the computer for at least 30 seconds. (Yank the power cord, not just turn off) Take the battery out from the system board for another 30 seconds. Take the memory out, clean the contacts lightly, and shuffle the spots they were in. Keep matched memory boards together, but insert into different banks. If only 2 boards, swap the spots. Unplug the IDE cables from the hard drive and CD, re-insert them. Take out all the plug in cards and clean the contacts. Do not insert any that are not needed to install the OS. (Video card only if possible) Re-install the little battery and power plug. In the BIOS, set the time and date, and any other settings you need to tweak. Disable power save in BIOS (for now anyway) This would also be a good time to update the BIOS if its not the latest and greatest. Try the re-install again. At least this didn't cost anything but a little time. :} Next I would start thinking about the CPU and/or system board. I have seen both raise havoc in the past. Hope this helps Rich I-Net turtil@frontiernet.net .... Do not look in laser with remaining eye. --- * Origin: Turtil's Pond BBS. Monroe NY 845-783-2106 (1:2624/50) .
