If you recall, I have this same problem with Firefox, no start/no error.
I also had the very same reaction from Mozilla, but one of the Zone 2
guru's advised me to get a clean cy of Moz 1.75, deinstall the one that
wouldn't fire, then do a fresh install of 1.75. I did that, and have
been using it ever since with no problems. I haven't dabbled with
Firefox since then.  Good Modeming!  /\oo/\
