Subj : Portable ISP To : All From : Andy Roberts Date : Mon Jul 04 2005 07:14 pm All , I need some advice on the hardware and software to setup a laptop to connect to a good (yet unknown) ISP, via cell phone. Is there an advantage to GSM for data speed over the alternatives? Is it better to have an ISP such as Cingular, rather than using a nationwide plan and calling most any good cheap ISP anywhere in the US? Will Cingular ISP require WinXX software? (I will not tolerate that.) Overage charges? Special hardware? BlueTooth??? Options to use this with my desktop when at home and laptop when OTR? Suggestions for a good economical laptop? I've been burned by used laptops twice. I can't afford a new ThinkPad. I like Toshiba. I have not done any recent research as to what works well with OS/2 and is reliable. Thanks and Good Luck, Andy Roberts --- Terminate 5.00/Pro*at * Origin: OS/2 & Old age are better than the alternatives. (1:109/921.1) .
