I spend a fair amount of time supporting our church which uses W2K and a Win-only accounting system (uses FoxPro, to add insult to injury) so it's convenient to have a box I can boot. Same box has Mandrake, SUSE, Dos 6, Dos 7, Warp 3 in addition to Win versions from W98 to W2K to XP. Needless to say, my normal work box is one Warp (MCP1 + FP5) - I'm still procrastinating about loading up eCS 1.2. I still have to test hardware/software I do under DOS for some customers, Winxx for others. Same way, I have instances of DB2, Oracle, and PostgreSQL running for the database tests. I'm also not particularly predjudiced about the OS I use. DOS is still a great hardware maintainence utility and I use FORTH when bringing up new hardware designs or developing drivers for them. Just like my garage toolset. There my toolbox contains everything from a jewelers 1.2 oz. peinning hammer to the BMFH (a 12 pound sledge) - use what you need. PK> Now... I bought a Fuji FinePics A3800 a couple of years back. It's only 3.2 mpx with 6:1 optical and 4x digital (useless!) zoom but it's simple enough for the wife to use. Does 30 second videos (sometimes whether I want them or not if I don't watch the switch positions ) with audio and a bunch of other stuff I never use so it's more than enough for me. It uses the SD memory but I never bothered with a reader - I just use the built-in USB interface to transfer pictures. I also never went for the big memory stick - I get 49 perfectly usable snapshots on the base 16m memory and just copy them to the laptop as it fills up on trips. If you are like me, 4 out of 5 shots aren't of more than passing interest anyway (and a wife who insists on recording every move the grandsons make when visiting). BTW, it's USB 2.0 but works fine with the 1.1 in the laptop. I keep a Pentax with a bag full of lenses for those increasing rare occasions where I want to revert to the 'photographer mode' for such things as technical layouts and portrait or 'art' work. ___ þ KWQ/2 1.2i þ An expert is one who avoids the small errors in favour of the rea --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: COMM Port OS/2 juge.com 204.89.247.1 (281) 980-9671 (1:106/2000) .
