Subj : EXPLORER and SHEZ replacements To : All From : Mike Powell Date : Sun Apr 17 2005 05:38 pm I am looking to replace a couple of programs w/OS/2 vers... one that I use under Windows, and the other under DOS. Windows Explorer - I have tried File Freedom and a couple of others from Hobbes, and have found them severely lacking. I have one other, Filestar/2, which says that it expires after 30 days, and costs $45. I am looking for something a little cheaper. ;-) I am used to the Explorer that comes with 95/98, and not the newer, flashier ones, if that means anything. ;-) SHEZ - this is a DOS ZIP, etc., archive manipulator. I actually used it as my "Explorer" on the DOS machine, too. File Freedom's manipulation of archives is unacceptable. I have also tried PMzipper, and find it lacking & difficult to configure. I am still able to use SHEZ, but its screen output is a little "choppy." I am not real impressed with what is available on Hobbes for much of anything so far. Is it kept up to date at all? They used to have OS/2 files on tucows but, if they still have an os/2 area, I can no longer find it. Thanks. ##MMR 2.61(beta). --- GTMail 1.26 * Origin: Kentucky's Capitol City Online * 502/875-8938 (1:2320/105.0) .
