Subj : checking for bad sectors under OS/2 To : Michael Balcos From : Peter Knapper Date : Sat Apr 16 2005 11:24 am Hi Michael, JZ> You need to create new startup diskettes and replace JZ> the IBM1S506.ADD and OS2DASD.DMD on the second disk JZ> with a more recent one. If you don't have recent IBM JZ> IDE drivers, use this: JZ> http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/system/drivers/filesys/ib JZ> ide.zip When you create the new Boot Floppies with the updated driver, one thing Johan forgot to mention is that you MUST update CONFIG.SYS on the Floppy to include the line - SET COPYFROMFLOPPY=1 so that the install process uses the UPDATED driver on the floppy and not the old one from the CD. If you dont do this, the old driver from CD will be the one installed to your HD and the first boot from the new partition will get the old driver, returing the drive capacity problem. Warp 3 can be made Y2K ready with something like FP39, however there are still several components in there what will fight you if you try and do much with Warp 3. Warp 4 is a much better option, in that it has more recent updates that cover just about everything. Cheers..............pk. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Another Good Point About OS/2 (3:772/1.10) .
