Subj : checking for bad sectors under OS/2 To : Michael Balcos From : Johan Zwiekhorst Date : Tue Apr 12 2005 10:25 pm Hi Michael! In your message to me, dated , you wrote: >MB: But that would mean setting a big hard drive to use LBA mode from the >MB: BIOS. Will that be safe and not harm my OS/2 Warp 3 HPFS partitions? No, that's not safe! Changing the access mode for your hard disk WILL garble all data on it and make it unreadable. (As long as you don't write on the disk, reverting to the previous access mode will make your partitions readable again, by the way.) If you want to switch to another access mode, you will need to backup your partitions first and restore them after the switch has been executed. Warp 3 will work with any drive thrown at it, by the way, as long as you use a current driver. There's no difference with Warp 4 in that respect.
