This is not right. Although I normally use SCSI HD's, the few large IDE drives 
I have used are all running in LBA mode. I do remember having a problem 
switching a drive from CHS into LBA mode once because the drive had already 
been formatted and setup in non-LBA first, and needed a low Level "touch" to 
allow LBA to be selected on that particular BIOS. This was ages ago and I think 
I moved the drive to another motherboard to flip to LBA mode.

I think Gammatech Utilities are probably your best option there, but others may 
have more ideas...
