What makes you think it's defective?

USB is for low speed devices, nobody is trying to say USB is for HDD's and 
video cameras. However, USB2 is 480mbs - still targeted at low speed devices, 
except you can add a reasonable number of devices to a single cable without 
losing speed. The next firewire will smoke USB2, so there is little point 
trying to promote USB2 as anything more than what it is currently used for (ie. 
a replacement for all those irritating serial, parallel, keyboard and PS/2 
ports)

Normally Win9x shits on MacOS for stability. However in the long term, Win9x is 
much more likely to corrupt itself than MacOS.

OTOH, NT creams them all, no contest.

and *BSD creams Linux

and Solaris sucks

and VMS is pure evil :)
