Subj : OFFLINE READER NEEDE˙˙˙˙˙ To : Bill Wise From : Martin Prieto Date : Fri Aug 04 2000 12:01 pm BW> Tangerine. My computer room has salmon walls and beige carpeting, BW> and none of those other candy-ass flavors would work in here. I used BW> to have a tangerine wallpaper on the iMac, but it was a bit much. Now BW> I have a graphic of the USS Enterprise from STNG. My wallpaper is a picture of Alex (Malcom McDoweel from A clockwork orange) holding a cup of milk watching us like a maniac and "Got milk" is written at the top. I don't think i'll ever get another, this one is very simple, doesn't tire the eyes and it's done to fit on a 800x600 display with a 1152x900 virtual screen. hehe. BW> I bought a keyboard from Adesso--one of those ergonomic jobs--and it BW> only comes in the blueberry color. The advantage over the Mac BW> keyboard is that it does things that PC keyboards do that Macs don't. BW> OTOH, I've traded keyboards with them six times--they have a three- BW> year warranty that they're trying to honor. Lots of problems with BW> repeating, and disappearing from the bus so I have to unplug it and BW> replug it. They claim they're getting a new batch from the Chinese BW> manufacturer, and these have new "guts" that should eliminate all the BW> problems I've been having. In the meantime, they have my money and I BW> have nothing. Stay tuned. USB sucks, it's nothing else than a defective technology done to defeat the Apple Firewire (IEEE-1394) kick ass BUS that is also avaible for PC. 400 Mbps vs 12 Mbps... hummm Apple also came first and they had that theorical barrier since 1986. I really hate the Wintel alliance. Besides the "delete" thingy, what does the PC keyboard does that Mac can't? That's another thing I like about iMac, the keyboard kick ass. I like the layout and the design is damn great. Keys are very small and all stuck in minimal space, like very old Mac (when they still had monocrhome display!). Not-that-old Mac aren't like that, keys are hard to press and all so big. BW> It's too bad the two companies didn't cooperate a little more. Apple BW> could have had a larger share of the marketplace that Microsoft would BW> never have missed. The Mac doesn't crash nearly as often as the PC BW> did/does, unless I'm using SoftWindows98, then it crashes the whole BW> machine. If I had the Adesso keyboard I could Ctl-Alt-Del my way out BW> of the Windows problems, but the Mac keyboard's version of "delete" is BW> everybody else's backspace. Bill Gates founded Micro-soft after he quitted his job at Apple, to give you an idea. Mac woudn't be that stable if Microsoft would be there since the begiging!
