Subj : OFFLINE READER NEEDE˙˙˙˙˙ To : All From : Bill Wise Date : Sat Jul 29 2000 11:32 pm RS> Then again, I just returned to Fido yesterday after a number of ye RS> of not being active here, and for all I know the old OS-DEBATE ech RS> remember is dead now. :-( The title I have on this conference is "OS9" which is what is running on my iMac 333. RS> Out of curiosity, how old is the PC? Even 486-class boxes can be RS> useful with the right software. It's a pieced together outfit with stuff I bought from an e-mail friend about three or four years ago. I have all the docs for everything, so the settings are right, but the machine is very slow compared to my iMac. My wife wants to use the PC because that's what she's accustomed to, but I want to do everything I do on the iMac because I really like it better. I can download .qwk packets with Z- Term or Netscape, but I'll need a program to read them with. I had deleted everything but the OS from the PC, and then logged onto MS's website and got the latest upgrade. Then I reinstalled everything and it's working like clockwork, just really slow. RS> but this might give you some starting points: Thanks. I forwarded the message to my Internet address on the Mac so the URLs will be where I can deal with them. Much appreciated.
