OS/2, BeOS, > Solaris, *BSD have too many negative points. Your opinion re Solaris. Not the opinion of may others. But hey, your intitled to your opinion! > what kind of audience are you targeting with your try-alternatives > campaign? if you're talking to geeks, you're wasting your breath, > many geeks have been using more than one OS for a long time. if > you're talking about the average user, there is simply NO > alternative to windows. no other OS on any platform is as well Cheapies. Their always seel to be a bunch of people who don't want to pay for things. No other OS has as many fast spreading fast moving attacks on disabling it, or has three or more Uninstall programs listed in the 10 best selling software titles list, year after year. > you're also assuming most people give a damn about the OS they're > using. most people see the situation as Problem, Solution. they have > a task to do, and want something to do it. there is nothing that > would make them even consider using something other than windows. Well, I'd like to log into the 7 or 8 North American Exchange sites, and on the Ticker Streamer, and stack the reduced windows (sized down to the ticker streamer) on on top the other. I can in OS/2, but I can't in Windows 98SE. What am I doing wrong? The Windows don't want to allow me to resize them, or to stack them. I'd also like to be able to get through the month without having to shut down Windows. Actually, I'd like to get through a year or two without having Wondows Freeze, or report Internet Explorer Not Responding, despite never having ever clicked on it. But when I do my three finger salute, it almost Explorer, or the video streamer thats not responding. The same box, and same DSL service never gives me that error under OS/2. Untill last October when my DSL service went to PPPoE, and myt service only supplued the PPPoE drivers for Win 9*, I never had to use it for more than a few moments. Since October, I learned what that little MS button on the front of the Box is their for. But then again, I did learn Win 98 properly reconises muti Ethernet cards, and installs them just like OS/2, Novell, and DOS. Most Windows Echo messages I read, indicated Win9* and NT did not properly reconize muti ethernet cards. Well, it does here, on mutiple installations. > even if they did think about it for a nanosecond, why would they > want to make life more difficult for themselves by going with a > minority OS? with windows they have all bases covered better than > any other platform I think your delusional. But hey, your entitled to your opinion. I just happen to not agree with you. Hey, maybe I'm delusional. Maybe governments and banks are delusional. Seems many of them still use OS/2. As I recall, I get payed by them. --- FLAME v2.0/b * Origin: SORRY, Live Y2K Rollover date system test under way @ (1:12/242) .
