   There is more than a grain of truth to this all.
For example, my power usage used to be under 150 KWh
per month, and now with two computers constantly on,
it's over double that.  Although I can open the door,
and cool my apartment down, for many offices, the
excess heat has to be removed by inefficient air
conditioning.  So, if you add an extra 100 W per
employee's computer, and multiply that by 500 per
building, and then divide by an inefficiency index for
the AC, there would be a huge increase in the heat and
power load for a normal building.  Add 500 W per
employee, and that ends up to be over $400 power use
per employee per year, or over $200,000 for the
building.  Add that bill for the country, and it ends
up to be a huge increase in electrical demand.
