Bad support, it's a serial port and lot of others things.

USB is actually marketed as a high speed device, they probably changed 
the song when poeple started yelling that Apple had Firewire since a 
long time ago. USB is also able, ho my, to manage videos cameras as 
their are already somes (4 Mb/s is more than enough for common 
mortals). What else could it run? Mices, keyboards, printers, joysticks 
and friends? Very useless.

    FireWire have all for it.

Once corrupted, MacOS is very difficult to bring up again, that's what
