Have you tried my game, DoorMUD?  It's fairly new, and actively supported. 
So far, I've been getting a lot of e-mails from people telling me they like 
it because it's a lot more interactive and complex than LORD... however, some 
users are just confused by the game, for the same reason.

Anyway, if you're willing to try something new, please give it a look :)
