MM> I've got MM> some old MSDOS books somewhere that I'll chase up. As we speak, er, type, I'm looking at my copy of "Running MS-DOS" by Van Wolverton, great book, it's for DOS versions up to 5. He devotes a chapter to the EDIT program, and does say "...you must press Enter at the end of each line". So guess that's our answer.
