My understanding was that a 486/66 was too slow for cdr or cdrw use.  I
couldn't play mp3's or do any RealPlayer audio.  Naaa.. at this stage a new
'puter would be better anyway.  

On another computer, it's 15" monitor just broke down (yesterday).  The
monitor was only 6 years old.
