Just like dos Edit, but much better. It has a built in PG> Spell Checker and Thesaurus, as well as a few other nice goodies, such PG> as importing text into the message you're writing. GL> Can Pedit import different text files into various points of a GL> message one is writing? Yup. ;) Before I say anymore, I just have to say, sorry for the long delay. Did ya miss me? No, not you George. I meant my computer. :) Pedit will even preserve the last 4 text files under it's File Menu, as well as the commands: New, Open, Insert, and Revert, should you get confused. Just be sure to save all changes using the temp file that Multimail spawned. ie. look at the top of your screen before you try any of the above. If you make a mistake, Multimail will give you a friendly abort message, [Y/N] or something to that effect. Actually, one of the best Dos based editors I've used is Dexter v2.0 It can handle any number/size of files at once, and will use whatever type of memory/virtual memory it can utilize until you run out of memory/virtual memory. [hd space]. If you need a spell checker, just use Share Spell and a chkfile.bat that calls both your editor & spell checker in succession, in place of edit.exe in the mmail.rc file to launch one after the other. With Dexter, I can edit and combine many imports into one message, highlighting and cut/copy/pasting from one text file to the next, clicking with the mouse from one split/tiled/cascaded screen to the next without fear of loosing my reply message. You can even shell to dos in a special way that will automatically save all your work and allow you to come back days later to the same place you left off. Kind of handy if you are writing a lot of letters to someone, or writing a book. Even better if you are using it to produce scripts or other code and don't want to have to remember all the files you had open and where you left off. Dexter is also one of the easiest editors I've used for reformatting qoutes in messages that have these >PG scattered all over in the strangest places. Anyway, I've gotton used to using Pedit lately, because I wanted my editor and spell checker all in one place, and the thesaurus is a nice bonus. Other features include the ability to right mouse click on a word/sentence/paragraph to cut/copy/paste or set word wrap/spell check/use thesaurus at the cursor location. Oh yeah, did I mention that Pedit will spell check rtf/html files as well as strip rtf/html/c-comments? Long story short. Refer to first line of my reply. ;) Peter Green (aka - Viper) email: netmail: 1:167/133 ....
