No fear; there'll always be mailing lists, at least.

But you know what's really sad? It's that even Usenet is falling by the wayside 
now, to an extent... It's still very active, of course; but for a given topic, 
I find that web-based discussion boards are often much more active than the 
corresponding mailing lists or newsgroups. And this, despite the fact that they 
have by far the worst user interfaces. Worst of all, there are people on these 
boards who've never even heard of Usenet. :-(
