Subj : Can't open packet w/MMail To : LINDA PROULX From : MAX CHAMBERLAIN Date : Sat Aug 05 2000 11:47 am LP> MC> alright, but I assume it's Pkunzip that can't open them. I've tried LP>I put the path to Pkzip in the autoexec.bat. Pkzip has to be in the DOS LP>path line I found. LP>After that it always worked. Thanks. I'll try that just as soon as I figure out how to edit autoexec.bat, wherever it is ...if I actually have it. I know I used to have it on the old WFWG 3.1 system, but then there were lots of things I could do on that old machine that I can't with this Win98, like Edit and Sort. * OLX 2.1 * CONGRESS.SYS corrupted! reformat WASH.DC ? Later... After poking around in Help I found the Sysedit command, but the autoexec.bat file had only one line of code (for the sound card). Since I wasn't absolutely sure about all the details of coding a Path statement, I decided to first try putting a copy of Pkzip/unzip right in the c: root directory. That worked after explicitly coding the full path in the two mmail.rc lines. Seems like it should have worked with the Pkzip/unzip programs located anywhere, so long as the full path was coded in mmail.rc. Now both the Windows and DOS versions of MMail seem to work, although the Windows version has a very slight pause whenever a new function is requested, but the DOS version is as zippy as OLX. It will take a bit of getting used to the new commands, and I really miss being able to toggle back and forth between a message and its reply. After saving and looking at this reply I see I will also need to use something other than this MS editor. :( Thanks again for the suggestion. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/Wildcat5! v3.0pr3 * Origin: Get all your fido mail here.. www.docsplace.org (1:3603/140) .
