Subj : MM Linux editor preff... To : All From : James Bradley Date : Fri Jan 28 2005 11:39 am Hello Again All: [He's back... ;-] I'm wondering if there is a general prefference to a Linux editor while in MultiMail? emacs is doing the job, but I'm more used to DOS's Q-edit. Anythig closer to that? Please: vi, and vim are not even on my radar. Mostly, I can't seem to find the docs. I installed from an ELF version. I have a DOS install, so I'm trying to scour those when I can. Until then, I have a few pressing issues - I hope I don't barrage here. I'm so new to the OS, that most of my issues might be simplistic, or better asked on a Linux echo? 1.) I really need a spell checker. BADLY! I know I have a couple at least installed, but how does one implement them. 2.) When spawning the editor, MM shows "Unrecognized keyword: $" Is this to be worried about? It only seems to appear in an X-terminal, but when I run in the console, it does the funkey ANSII character shift, with sporatic "?" marks all over. As an aside; how would one fix that? 3.) Read Markers don't seem to be saved. "zip -jkq" is the default compression, Permission are likely all wonky, as I mentioned I'm quite new to Linux. 4.) I've only run MM as root so far, but am a little foggy about how to run it as a normal user. Shouldn't the mmail directory go in something like /usr/share or some-such? Like I say, I'm trying to read the DOS docs when the hip allows. These seem to be augmented *NIX manuals to satisfy DOS installs? .... Thanks in advance.
