But, since I haven't even fired-up one of the old beasts in a couple of years, let alone read mail on one, I guess I wouldn't be missing much by switching to the PM version. I don't really like upgrading, though, and actually prefer running less complex (which usually translates to "older") software. The fact that I've upgraded this version on a few occasions can be considered to be a feather in your cap. Regarding the XT version's inability to release time-slices (related to "ClockMode"), perhaps an inline call to Int 2FH, Function 1680H could be of help?
