Yes, it's great to be able to say thank you to him.  It's not often 
that you can get a hold of a program's author.

About, VDE; I downloaded VDE from a bulletin board years ago because I 
was testing text editors.  VDE was always free, so when I saw it on 
Simtel.net; I downloaded it right away.  It's not easy to find a dos 
text editor that will support long filenames.
