Trav's guestimate right now is 12 700meg cd's. DA>Wow ... that's some collection. The only thing I have left of my files is DA>the Riders of the Crystal wind BOS Which if I'm not mistaken I just saw fly by during the new files bit on Trav's system. ;> TD>>Sounds like a xref of the pods & fido lists might not hurt. DA>Worth a shot I'd say. We have a volunteer! Do I hear a second? TD>>Not to speak bad of Jay, but I think his refusal to use the newer TD>>methods of echo access is what killed the net much earlier than it TD>>should have died. Like fido, it was going out but access by email TD>>and so forth would've kept people connected for a while longer. DA>I agree. 2 of the echo's I have went to mailinglists because of the lack of local bbs's. By the time I found where most everybody went, fido was finally past the telnet stage w/ things like nntp, http, etc. OfC none of the people on the list's knew abt these new fangled ways of messaging, so it's up to me to keep putting it in front of them. And since the lists have a tendency to lose mail like fido does, it's now a case of `What's the difference?' Biggest one I can see is that if the net crashes, the bbs's can still fall back to pots links in a flash. TD>>Word is that a bunch of PODSters set up a mailing list on (now) TD>>yahoogroups somewhere. DA>THat might be interesting - I'll have to go have a look for it. I don't know for sure what the name was, but it was on onelist. (now yahoogroups) Give PODS a try in the list list. -=> Yours sincerely, The Doctor <=- .... "Geez!
