Subj : Catholic Witches? To : All From : Rachel L. Akers Date : Tue Apr 03 2001 11:04 pm Gidday All, I've a friend who'd mad nextdoor neighbour has been doing witchy like things (mainly aimed at him - he's more worried at her tossing kero over the bits of his garden she doesn't like & _then_ lighting candles) while singing in that fanaticically loud offkey devoted kinda way that seems to transend cultures. It _seems_ that she is either a Catholic (ish) witch or at least has leanings in that direction. Problem is that I know of Catholic witches but not much about them. Or even if there are any similar X-ian witches out there... The bit below is from two recent exchanges in a mailing list that touched on the topic & just about trebbled my knowledge about this topic. Does anyone here have anything to add? I'd rather not be drowned in holy water next time I visit him... She was a healer, and believe me, she really didn't worry about Karma. If she wanted to get you, she'd put scissors outside her door and throw salt all over the place, burn candles that I am sure didn't have the greatest intentions imbued in them. LOL She called herself a Witch, but attended Mass regularly. I don't think she ever talked about the Goddess. It was always in the name of Jesus Christ. --------------------------------------------------------------------- From: ladikalima MoonSpirit > My grandmother was definitely a Witch, but she was a devout > Catholic. Many awsome witches have Catholic backgrounds or are still catholic. Many hedegrow witches never knew that what there were/are doing could be considered as witchcraft. Some very intense stuff can be done "in the Name of Jesus." All of these magical practices don't necessarally have karma as part of their practice. They do stuff that I would never do. For me these practices are wrong, for them they are just fine. I have no problem with that as long as I don't have to participate in things that make me uncomforatable. --------------------------------------------------------------------- --- Msged/2 4.00 * Origin: Elfwhere - The POINTy eared POINT (3:640/531.2379) .
