Problem is that he honestly believed he'd found significant "evidence" in the Bible to succeed. Don't think he was _actually_ charged with fraud 'cause the police couldn't prove intent. But I suspect there actually wasn't any _intent_ as such he just cost a lot of people a lot of money while he kept flying over to Turkey.
