It's westernized for the same thing as "temple", Chuckie.
And, after all, Wicca IS historically a northern European thang.
But people could use whichever moniker they wish. Satanists use Temple 
(Temple of Set) as well as Church (The Church of Satan), for instance.
The word "Church"  most certainly isn't the property of Christians.
