If one postulates that Earth is one complete living organism (Gaia), one
must accept the corollaries and conclusions.  What I find so typical is the
reactions from scientists, ie "If it's not on instruments, it's not there."
Skepticism /can/ be carried too far when one rejects out of hand anything
that doesn't fall into the scientific canon of the Great God Einstein.

Like FTL travel, just because ONE GUY say it's impossible doesn't mean he's
right.
