In the office we have an old Novell 3.12 server, which is still running just because our financial software makes use of it. Our main server is a Linux system running Samba and the users connect to it via NetBios over IP. Can I safely move this financial software to the Linux-box? In my opinion it uses the server just as a file-server, however it is called a novell-version. No NLMs are installed for the software to run. What pitfalls should i be aware of? The reason for planning the move is that this novell server is starting to get a time-bomb hardware-wise. Further, moving everything to one platform would make things more manageable.
