The Adaptec is easy enough to configure. -> -> Most RAID cards are - if you RTFM! Yes. And most other things, *assuming* the docs are worth their salt. Many docs are awful. Wildcat BBS docs are essentially worthless. -> CH> I do keep having visions of a 225gb RAID5 array. The Adaptec UDM -> CH> RAID card and four IBM 75gb UDMA drives. About $3,000US for all. -> -> Think yourself lucky. I don't even know if we can GET those over here -> have to do something that big with UW SCSI - 7 x 34 gig drives, plus -> card - all told, about $40,000 $AUS. The Adaptec card, and IBM drives ought to be available. Can't comment on the import duties and exchange ratio though.. -> CH> BTW, the APC UPS was the apparent culprit on my 5:30am server -> CH> reboots. -> -> It's possible that someone in the past had put a programmed shutdown -> into it using PowerChute - that's about all I can think of. I doubt it in this case. It would have taken some malevolent elf to follow me around and program that in all the machines I tried it on. Must be something in both those APC UPSs. I don't even have PowerChute on these machines. -c- --- ViaMAIL!/WC v1.60d * Origin: Chowdanet! (401-331-5587) telnet://chowdanet.com (1:323/120) .
