I LE> IM> would do this by running a memory diagnostic, but I don't know LE> IM> what you have available to you. LE> LE> Not a lot. Yeah... [:( My good ones are commercial. I've never found anything in the shareware arena that even came up to the level of "adequate". [:( LE> IM> Hey -- do you have parity or ECC memory installed? LE> LE> 72-pin FPM parity. The system won't run with anything else. Oh well there you go! If you had a memory problem then it would almost assuredly pop up as a parity error! LE> IM> The rote reply in that case is usually "do you have the latest LE> IM> service pack installed?". LE> LE> It's 3.11. I grabbed the "latest pack" about 18 months ago, and now LE> there aren't any. Well, I'm out of ideas then. There's also the possiblity that one of the "fixes" is responsible. LE> IM> Remember, if you suspect that it's the handling of the EA's LE> IM> which may be causing the problem then you'll have to split the LE> IM> EA's _before_ you do the copy. LE> LE> The problem is that the copying is being done by a batch file being LE> run on a Win95 box. At the same time, the OS/2 box has PMView LE> running and creating thumbnails of *different* files, but on the LE> *same* NW volume. LE> LE> I suspect that something about the way NW 3.11 handles long file LE> names and OS/2 EAs can't handle the load. [...] LE> Note that it isn't the copying *or* the creating of thumbnails. It's LE> both at the same time. Some sort of "interaction". Ohhhh! You're running PMView on the OS/2 box, but you're creating the thumbnails on the Netware volume!! Yeah, that makes coming up with a diagnostic procedure a little more difficult. [:) Well, since you're planning on installing the v4.2 anyway, maybe just work around it for now. For the amount of time that you've spent recovering from these crashes, installing the Backup Exec and NetWare v4.2 could be considered an _investment_. [:) Still, I'd be interested in hearing what the problem is here, if you ever find out.
