Subj : Server crashing To : All From : Leonard Erickson Date : Thu Nov 02 2000 07:46 pm I've had my 3.11 server crash on me 4 times in the last week or so. 3 of them in the last 4 days. Given that it takes an hour or so to determine the mirrored volumes involved have mismatchs, and then 5-6 hours for Vrepair to fix them, this is a *major* hassle. I think I've tracked down the conditions that lead to the crashes: I'm running a program on my Win95 box that's doing an "if file not exist in destination, move to destination" batch file. At the same time, My OS/2 box is running PMView 2000 and moving/loading files in the destination directory. I *think* the problem is because the files in question are graphics files, an PMView store "thumbnails" of them as extended attributes. Does this sound like it might be right? If so, any suggestions beyond "don't run those programs at the same time"? I *am* going to upgrade to 4.2, but I have to get the system backed up *and* find the time... --- FMailX 1.59b/beta * Origin: Shadowshack (1:105/51) .
