Can I implement -> JW> the new server with both IPX and IP to facilitate an easier migration, -> JW> and then shut off the IPX afterwards? -> Yes - you can run in compatibility mode, or even run your NW 5 server as a -> gateway for IPX services, meaning your IP clients will be able to see the IPX -> server and vica versa. Might I assume that it will be very easy to eliminate the IPX protocol bindings after they are no longer needed? -> JW> Another question. Can the new server have mirrored and duplexed -> JW> system drive and hardware raid (5? stripe with parity) data drive(s)? -> The same mirroring/duplexing options as existed in NW 4.x exist in NW 5.x - -> however, there's a new volume type which doesn't {yet} support mirroring or -> duplexing - it's called NSS. It also doesn't support a few other things - but -> if you're happy with your existing "traditional" Netware volume types, then -> there's no need to change, and you can mirror/duplex/raid volumes to your -> hearts content. -> RAID 5 is also supported by NSS as long as it's hardware based. I'm looking to mirror/duplex the system volume, so that a failure will not stop the server from booting, but to use hardware Raid 5 to get disk use efficiency with safety for the data area. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr4 * Origin: MPCUG WeBBS (1:121/2) .
