On the same fysical server or upgrade to new hardware? Netware 5 needs more RAM, VGA needs to be VESA2 compliant, not VESA3 as I found out. :-( I just thought VESA3 would even be better, this "problem" might be solved with a service pack soon. If you have verry large volumes (30+GB) and don't need: - mirroing by Netware itself, meaning you don't mirror at all or allready have RAID doing it for you; - limiting diskspace per user, meaning volume or directory space restrictions then consider using NSS volumes in stead of the tradition Netware partitions. Load and, if ever needed repair, times are much faster. NSS needs lots less RAM for large volumes. CDROM support is now also an option of the NSS and once loaded will auto(dis)mount CD's. If you need CD's in the server after installation make sure there is a line like "NSS CDROM" in your autoexec.ncf. There can be more options on the load line for NSS, mine loads like this: "NSS Def Dos CDRom" giving me even access to the C: and (identical D:) drive on the server. You don't need to switch to the new NDPS printing system, the Queue system will work nicely thank you and still offer the added bonus of having drivers associated with a printer/queue. Strangely drivers can, as far as I can see, only be added from the workstation by directly accessing the queue, not via a program like NWAdmin. NDPS is usefull if you have "real" NDPS printers, it saves setting them up on the network, or huge printjobs that should go straight from the workstation to the printer and not via the server. After installing Netware 5, comment the line 'StartX' in your autoexec.ncf as you probably won't be using the GUI on the server. If you ever need it you can enter startx yourself at the command prompt and be ready for whatever. RM> As part of the upgrade, Managewise is also going to be installed. RM> Will this complicate the process? Nope, not if you mean installing it after Netware 5 is installed. If you are upgrading a server that allready have managewise installd and you wish to upgrade that simultaniously then read the installation manuals carefully. Probably you will end up upgrading the server first and then upgrading managewise. However I don't have any reallife experience with managewise so I might be wrong there.
