Paying more attention to another attempt to install Netscape 7.1 in my CompUSA box, I noted it is the MSVCRT40.DLL file that brings on the chokeing whilst installation of AOL on Desktop (which I don't care for anyway 8-( is working. Doing a Search for MSVCRT on our H-P 750n box (with XP-Home O/S) I find several MSVCRT40.DLL files of varying dates and sizes; includeing a C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSVCRT40.DLL of 64kb of 08/10/01. Most of the others appear to be associated with digital devices such as VistaScan and UMAX scanners and PrintShop digital images manager, etc.. Maybe if I can understand the creation of the various MSVCRT files I will be able to coupe better with the problem.
