You can use Agent (or Free Agent) just fine as a stand-alone program.
No need to have a browser (Netscape, Internet Explorer, or whatever)
open at all.  All you need is a web connection and Agent.

Now, if you're asking about using Agent to read messages that have
already been obtained via Netscape, then I don't know whether there
is a way to point Agent to the messages.
