True, but not in the numbers that Fidonet did have. New software to
replace old software that is no longer developed is more difficult to
find now.

Maybe the real problem is that Fidonet has grown so used to having
software "laid at their feet" that we have forgotten how, or just can
not convince ourselves to ask someone to develop a software that is
needed.

Of course, not having standards and specifications to follow in the
development is hurting development as well.
