Subj : Remember when.. To : All From : August Abolins Date : Fri Feb 04 2005 06:57 pm Hi All, ==================== From: "WLB :>\)" Date: Fri, 4 Feb 2005 07:12:36 -0500 Newsgroups: Products.Nomad Path: news.creative.com Remember when your favorite tape would get wrapped around the capstan? Recording your favorite mix to tape, one VINYL record at a time? Cutting and splicing? Playing 45s at 33 or 78 and laughing like crazy? Snaps, crackles, and pops? And how many of us have taped pennies to the stylii of our old record players (hopefully when we were VERY young) so the record wouldn't skip? Heaven help us, those were the days... but for recorded music, aren't these days just great?... I was listening to my Zen 2.0 the other day, cueing up songs as they randomly popped into my head while I was listening to others. And I was at work on break, so for that to happen in the olden world I'd have had to had with me my 600+ CDs {tapes, records, or whatever, and something to play them on, et. al.}... instead of just a single, small, rectangular box filled with miracle technology, and a set of earphones. Which is why I'm hoping against hope that this whole thing doesn't migrate to the point where the Big Bogeymen don't try to make it where our MP3s, etc., don't play anymore, and they turn everything into you-pay-everytime-you-play-it subscription BS crap. They'd love that, wouldn't they...THAT would be "the day the music died"...
