I wasn't sure either, but your next paragraph tells that I am using the DOS

I've gotten varied reports on Win ME's ability to run "DOS Programs", some say 
yes, others say no.  I'm waiting for a new HD now so I can get a good CLEAN 
backup, then I will experiment with the old HD first.
