Subj : Zany comedy To : All From : Guilbert Date : Thu Aug 11 2005 07:48 pm From: "Guilbert" I mentioned zany comedy in an append on this forum, and I wondered who else people though was in the 'Python' style. From my point of view it would include: The Marx Brothers - some of their zany comedy was amazing. The Goons - a historic BBC radio show from the 1950's. So way out and so far ahead of its time. Of course Spike Milligan was the driving force of the Goons and he went on to make a series of TV shows called the 'Q' series (Q5 etc). The Pythons still say he beat them to it with their style of comedy (no punchlines, sketches flowing into other sketches etc). Mel Brooks - SOME Mel Brooks including Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstien, High Anxiety Steve Martin - Some of the early Steve Martin films fall into this category - The Man with two brains, The Jerk - he is a great fan of Python. Mike Myers - Some of Wayne's world, and the Austin Powers films have many zany moments - he is of course a great fan of English comedy. Some of Saturday Night Live - but then of course it was started by fans of Python - Belushi, Ackroyd, Chase, etc Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker - Airplane, Naked Gun etc Any more ? --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5 * Origin: FidoNet MONTE <--> alt.fan.monty-python (1:379/45) .
