I wouldnt go as far as saying "it" (the soundtrack) was "utter crap." But i was dissapointed -- i truly was expecting more.... more "python" influence. After listening to it again, earlier today, i enjoyed it more -- but was still expecting more of a "python-esque" overtone. My exposure to "Spamalot" was on CBS' "60 Minutes" a week ago. And i dont really remember hearing much of the songs during the 12 minute spot. So my first exposure to the msic was last night. But i guess if you indulge yourself in the show, lighting, the sound... the whole atmosphere of "Spamalot" ... (like any other London or Broadway show) you'd enjoy it much more than just listening to the CD soundtrack. Case i point: i really enjoyed seeing "Into The Woods" but the soundtrack sucks! Just no life to it. Same w/ Spam. Also, maybe if "Spam" had input by other Pythons, like their tv show or movies, the flavor would be more Python-like... than just one-sided Python. I still plan on seeing it if and when it comes to Southern California -- sans the original BW cast, of course.
